why the advent of GSM has done more harm than good.

There is no doubt about the fact that communication has been made much easier and effective with the introduction of the Global System for Mobile communication (GSM). It has speared many the stress of sitting down to compose hand written messages and the entire process it undergoes before reaching the intended recipient.

But it will amaze many that GSM have cause alot of damage than good. It has claimed so many lives via accidents -commuters and motorists alike- mostly those who engage in conversation while driving. Many homes have been broken for the simple fact that GSM has created so many avenues of promiscuity, as a result of easy networking especially through the use of sophisticated phones which have pinging facilities that enables the transfer of information at a wink of the eyes. it has also affect student and their studies negatively while its parts cause environmental damage during their after life time.

Research has that most car owners in Nigeria makes or recieves call while driving, while some few ones among them even chat on social networks while driving. these are forms of distraction especially when driving, and most addicted drivers ends up in their early grave.

Pedestals are not left out in this incesant menace. There have been many cases where some people walk straight into a fast moving car or bike while chatting with friends, while some of the victims had the chance to tell their story after sustaining brutal injuries, the unlucky ones could not survive to have a change of philosophy.

Also many other have lost their lives, perhaps earlier than suppose by just listening to music via their phones. Most GSM has multimedia applications that allow users watch movies and videos, take photos and as well listen to music.

Make folks choose to make use of an ear piece when listening to music which seem cool as it restrict other from listening or been distracted by the songs. But some often increase the volume  on the device which makes it difficult to hear other sounds around. so when a fast moving car horns from afar, its almost impossible to hear as the ear drum has been covered already and this can result into fatal crash.

Phones now are built bluetooth and infrared or both that allows the sharing of files (photos, music, videos etc) with other users. Parents are trying their best to curb the kind of video that their kids watch at home. But it only ends at home because the children goes outside with their phones and being influenced by friends, they get watch pornographic videos, some even end up collecting it via bluetooth to their phones. These no doubt will end up having negative impact in these children and it can consequently lead to broken home.

And talking of broken home, GSM have succeeded in split many families in Nigeria and many other part of the world. These day Phones are also built to accept many application including chatting and social networking apps like whatsapp, BBM, 2go etc. these applications enables communication to be fast and cheaper, no wonder married women have used to execute their licentious and promiscuous act. They easily cajoled online by their admirers only to end up commiting these immoral acts which will end up splitting their home when caught by their husbands.
The men aren't left out in these acts as they often, most of the time, concieved the idea in the first place.

The advent of GSM are also harmful because they are
distractions at school. Although they may cause distractions in many other situations that may lead
to dangerous outcomes, the usage of cell phones
at school is very disruptive to the learning
environment. As shown by a research done by
pewresearch.org, 64% of teens with cell phones
have texted in class, and 35% have made or
received a call during class. Additionally, 43% of all
teens who take their phones to school say they text
in class at least once a day or more. Obviously,
students are not paying attention during the time
where they are supposed to be learning. Instead,
they are texting and using their cell phones. In this
situation, phones are the culprit behind children’s and teen’s lack of education, which proves our point that cell phones do more harm than good.

Mobile phones also causes environmental damage during
their afterlife. 100 million cell phones are replaced
each year, and many people don’t know that cell
phones can be recycled. This causes people to
dispose of their cell phones in the trash. These cell
phones and their materials which some of are toxic
and some of are valuable are thrown away. Toxic
materials like arsenic, beryllium, cadmium, copper,
and lead are thrown away. Many cell phone shells
are also treated with brominated flame retardants.
All these toxic materials cause a lot of
environmental damage when they are left in
garbage dumps or underground. The valuable
materials such as expensive metals, engineered
plastics, and glass are also thrown away. These
materials are also harmful if not disposed of or
recycled properly. This not only throws away the
materials, it wastes the energy that was used to
create them. All these materials that are not
recycled properly will soon pose a threat to
humans and the earth, as they start to deteriorate
our world. Obviously, if cell phones did more good
than harm, they would not be causing all these
problems.
