ASUP END NEC MEETING ENDS IN DEADLOCK



The ongoing nationwide strike by polytechnic
lecturers is set to continue as the National
Executive Council, NEC, of the lecturers’ union,
ASUP, rejected the federal government’s offer.

The National Publicity Secretary of ASUP, Clement
Shirman, told report after the meeting that after a three-
hour meeting on Wednesday, the NEC of ASUP
resolved that until all 13 issues contained in its
demand are met, the strike would continue.

It can be recalled that the lecturers have been on strike since October 1, 2013, demanding among others better working condition, infrastructure improvement, and an end to discrimination of polytechnic graduates.

ASUP Strike: Nigeria Polytechnic lecturers to hold emergency NEC meeting on wednesday




ASUP says it will not back down on the strike until
the Federal Government attends to its needs.
The Zonal Coordinator, South-West, of the
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP,
Ademola Dosumu, has said the union’s ongoing
strike would continue until the Federal Government
meets its demands.
